Children ages eight to fourteen accompanied by an adult use an activity book to explore an exhibition and create a related art project to take home. No reservations are required for groups of less than eight. Family programs take place on the dates and times listed in the schedule. Programs are held in the classroom on the second level of the Sackler Gallery.
Imaginasia programs are free of charge, but seating is limited. Participation is on a first come, first serve basis.
Groups larger than eight must make reservations for a morning session by calling 202.633.0461. Information: 202.633.1000.

More than a hundred years ago American artist Dwight William Tryon used pastels to capture the many moods of the sea. Today, Japanese artist Hiroshi Sugimoto takes black-and-white photographs that meld sea and sky. Discover their works in the Sackler Gallery, and then draw with pastels and charcoal in the classroom to create your own seascape to take home.
